Discovering Brian's Shearwater

A newly described bird species, Brian's shearwater, was identified through a collaboration between researchers in Japan and the U.S. Acoustic sensors deployed on rocky islands revealed the bird's calls, confirming its presence and breeding location. However, the survival of this species is threatened by invasive rats, prompting efforts to secure funding for their removal.
