Myths of Valley Forge

The harsh winter at Valley Forge is often exaggerated; in reality, it was one of the milder winters recorded in the region. Contrary to popular belief, the surrounding areas had a bountiful harvest, yet many farmers chose to sell their goods to British forces for better compensation. Additionally, the presence of 750 black soldiers, who fought valiantly for their freedom, highlights an often overlooked aspect of this pivotal moment in American history.
