Energy and Food Nexus

The U.S. food system consumes about 10% of national energy, encompassing everything from agriculture to transportation and cooking. Since World War II, energy inputs have increased significantly due to the use of agrochemicals and mechanization, leading to higher food productivity. Today, a small percentage of the population can feed the majority, thanks to these advancements in energy use.
