Landfill Gas Challenges

Very little renewable natural gas (RNG) is produced from the anaerobic digestion of food waste due to higher costs compared to landfill disposal. Most RNG currently comes from landfill gas, which still emits significant methane despite capture efforts. As awareness of lifecycle emissions grows, there is a push for policies to divert organics from landfills to reduce their environmental impact.
