Coal Plant Regulations
Existing coal plants face significant regulatory changes, particularly the requirement to install 90% carbon capture if they wish to operate beyond 2040. With around 70 gigawatts already scheduled for retirement before 2032, only 130 gigawatts remain that may need to adapt. Co-firing with natural gas could be a strategy for those aiming to extend their operational life, but this practice is not yet widespread.In this clip
