There's a significant amount of energy storage already available on the grid, primarily in the form of fossil fuels. Currently, the U.S. has about 47 days' worth of primary energy supply stored, including natural gas, coal, and crude oil. This existing infrastructure plays a crucial role in balancing the variability of renewable energy sources like wind and solar.
