Flaring and Emissions

Over 150 billion cubic meters of natural gas were flared last year, surpassing Norway's total production. Despite numerous pledges to achieve zero routine flaring by 2030, progress has stagnated, with combustion efficiency of flares estimated at only 92%. This inefficiency contributes significantly to methane emissions, raising concerns about the effectiveness of current climate initiatives.
