Distance Tools

Distance education has become a pivotal part of modern learning, with platforms like Canvas and Google Classroom leading the way. Mandy highlights the importance of asynchronous tools, such as Flipgrid, which allow students to engage with content at their own pace. This flexibility is crucial, as not all students can access learning materials simultaneously throughout the day 1.

Our district in particular uses the platform canvas, but I know there's Google Classroom, there's Schoology.

Homeschooling

Homeschooling resources have expanded significantly, offering parents and teachers a variety of tools to enhance learning at home. Jonathan Mendosa discusses the Accidental Homeschooler program, which provides activities sorted by grade level, allowing for tailored educational experiences 2.

There are a couple of weeks worth of activities that are created and available for anybody who's interested, and it's sorted by grade level.

Self-Directed Learning

The Accidental Homeschooler resources encourage self-directed learning, especially for older students. Mandy suggests using bingo boards to guide students through various activities, fostering independence while parents manage other responsibilities 4.

If you need to hop on a conference call and you don't have any definitive curriculum to give your kiddo to work on, I think you could hand them that and say, Steven, get two boxes done.
