I'd like to discuss a period of acute stress that I went through. Two years ago, I took on a big promotion and moved to a new city where I knew no one. I also started an intensive exercise regime for the first time in my life. I'm in my mid-thirties and emotionally sensitive. Some people in my job were toxic personalities who were later removed for bullying behavior. Physical manifestations of stress became apparent, resulting in me seeking medical advice to confirm I was okay.
Eighteen months on, I'm doing well. I've cut back on alcohol and caffeine, improved my diet, and started meditating. However, I've stopped exercising because I'm afraid the physical symptoms of stress will appear again. I've never been afraid of exercise before. How can I overcome this fear and reintroduce exercise into my routine?
I have experienced stress for many years due to a complicated life, unstable work, lack of a girlfriend, and problems with people. For the past nine months, I have been experiencing nervous panic attacks that feel different from normal panic attacks; I feel paralyzed in the brain and somewhat block my breathing. It feels really intense. Since my work has become more stable and I now have a girlfriend, I feel calmer, have significantly fewer attacks, and they are not as strong anymore. However, I can still feel some stress or experience symptoms when I’m tired. Many times, I also feel inflammation and body pains.
