I have struggled with migraines and hypoglycemia that have gotten increasingly worse with each baby, and I'm newly pregnant for the 4th time. I eat well (no white flour/bread, lots of high-quality protein, no sugar, no processed food) and exercise. I also spent the last 2 years on a detox program with a naturopath who uses energetic kinesiology. I did lots of liver and kidney support to clear those pathways and then detoxed from mold, parasites, uranium, and several other substances. I saw lots of results, but this blood sugar issue has to get better in order to survive a 4th pregnancy and take care of/homeschool the other three children. I tried a carnivore diet during my last pregnancy for about a week and felt worse. I'm considering using inositol to help with blood sugar during this pregnancy but would much prefer to fix the problem! Is hypoglycemia definitely a sign of insulin resistance, or could it be something different? I thought I'd notice a difference on the carnivore diet if there was indeed insulin resistance. I'm also considering doing the genetic test through 10x, but I'm not sure if those results will help this specific issue.
Can you explain Dr. Mercola's claims about carbohydrates and insulin sensitivity? He argues that decreasing carbohydrate consumption can actually increase insulin sensitivity and that low-carb/high-fat diets may backfire by inhibiting glucose metabolism and impairing thyroid function. Additionally, how do ketogenic and carnivore diets factor into this discussion, considering they might reduce intake of omega-6 fats like linoleic acid?
