Supporting Nicaraguan Freedom Fighters
Lt. Col. Oliver discusses how the CIA turned to him to find a way to support Nicaraguan Freedom Fighters after they were taken out of the business. He created a 501(c)(3) public charity and received millions of dollars in donations from countries like Saudi Arabia, Taiwan, South Korea, and the Sultan of Brunei. By the time he was fired in 1986, there were 20,000 fighters, and they were able to bring the Sandinistas to the brink of disaster, despite receiving help from the Soviet Union, Bulgaria, Libya, and Cuba.In this clip
