Oxytocin Treatment Insights

Research indicates that individuals with lower baseline blood oxytocin levels may experience greater benefits from oxytocin treatment, specifically through a nasal spray administered over four weeks. Despite efforts to include both boys and girls in studies, the prevalence of autism remains biased towards males. A larger phase three trial, however, showed no significant benefits from extended oxytocin treatment, raising questions about its efficacy as a universal treatment for autism.
