NAD Precursor Insights

Recent studies reveal that while nicotinamide riboside and nicotinamide mononucleotide show limited effectiveness in elevating NAD levels beyond the liver, they do convert into nicotinamide, which can then boost NAD in other tissues. Interestingly, higher doses lead to more NAD in the kidneys, muscles, and brain, but neither precursor crosses the blood-brain barrier effectively. Ultimately, the focus may need to shift to raising cellular NAD levels rather than the specific precursors used.
