I was misdiagnosed with bipolar disorder and treated medically with several different types of medications, including antipsychotics. How can I address this situation?
I've been struggling with the aftermath of a psychotic break I had at 17, which led to a diagnosis of bipolar disorder and a long stint on medications. I was head of my class, involved in extracurriculars, and generally happy before this episode. I was put on Abilify 10 mg and Lamictal 150 mg, and stayed on them from 2009 to 2016 without any episodes.
I'm grappling with what really caused my psychotic break—was it stress, lack of sleep, family tendencies, or something else? I listened to your podcast about mental health and was fascinated. What do you think caused my psychosis, and how can I address the root cause? How can I get off these medications safely? Additionally, my parents vaccinated me extensively as a child. Is it possible that those vaccines could have poisoned my gut/mind? If so, how do I fix it? I've been on mental health medications for too long, and it feels like they are hurting my body and children. Please help!
