What are some natural methods to help an 84-year-old mom who is still struggling with nerve issues after back and shoulder surgeries, aside from pain medicines, as discussed in the episode Growing a New Body Through Science and Shamanism and the clip Pain-Free Living?
My husband just turned 49. When he was 20, he was in a car accident that broke his L5 vertebrae, and he underwent a fusion at 21. He was also prescribed pain medicine then and has been on that ever since. We realized in 2018, when he had a second fusion because of a herniated disc, that the first fusion never took or was incorrect, according to the surgeon in 2018 (a different one than when he was 21). He has continued to push hard with a normal life but increasingly deals with pain. He had a flare in 2024 and currently is having issues again with nerve pain in his leg, possibly another herniated disc. My question is this: I want to help with his inflammation. I feel like this is a significant factor in his pain. He would LOVE to get off pain medicine, but I fear he is now reliant on it. What are the top things we can do? Should we consider a grounding mat, infrared sauna, supplements, or hydrogen water? I know I should also change his diet, but I'm unsure how. He has begun to listen to your podcasts.
