I suspect that I'm overtrained. I've been doing heavy weights at low reps with long rest times for pretty much the whole year. I've taken a few different weeks off here and there, but I kind of feel tired all the time and have a low libido. I was thinking about taking a four-week break away from weight lifting. For Weeks 1 and 2, I thought about doing a 30-minute walk on the treadmill and a 10-minute stretch or foam roll. Then in Weeks 3 and 4, I would continue with the walks but start doing a 3-day band routine. Is this a good plan? Also, when walking on the treadmill, should I walk at 3.0 mph and an incline?
What is realistic to expect my body to be able to do right now after losing a ton of strength during a period of high mental stress and taking three weeks off from lifting? Before the move, I was doing Performance 15 workouts, and for much of this year, I've been doing MAPS 15-style workouts, so my volume has not been that high. I am currently back to lifting moderately (maybe 4 exercises, 2 days a week) and have lost at least 20 lbs on my squat. How can I recover lost strength and continue training during this stressful time?
Are there considerations for individuals who struggle to recover from too much volume, such as getting sick more frequently and feeling tired when doing 12-15 sets per week per muscle, as discussed in the episode These Behaviors Lead to SUCCESS In Fitness & Life | Mind Pump 1984 and the clip Overcoming Workout Fatigue?
