The Birth of Mont Pelerin

Hayek's response to the rise of totalitarianism and the expansion of state apparatuses led him to create the Mont Pelerin Society, a group of intellectuals, politicians, and business people who gathered to discuss free market thought and the state of the world. Hayek believed that by fostering cohesion within this group, they could bring about long-term ideological change that would eventually filter down to positions of power.
