Early Beginnings
Roger Lee's entrepreneurial journey began as a teenager during the dot-com boom, where he and a friend created websites for fun. These projects included a study guide website and an early social network, which became some of the most visited sites by teenagers in 2003 and 2004 1. The experience of reaching millions of users at such a young age inspired him to continue using technology to make a positive impact.
It was a really surreal experience. You know, here we are in 1516 year old kids living with their parents, just kind of typing on the computer, and able to have millions of teenagers visiting our websites on a regular basis was a really big impact and made me fall in love with the Internet almost at that age.
---
This early success laid the foundation for his future ventures, driven by the potential of the internet to create meaningful change.

Lessons Learned

Contrary to advice he received, Lee found that side projects like Layoffs.FYI can complement and enhance his main ventures 2. He believes in the mission of improving people's financial lives, whether through monetizable businesses or impactful projects.
I was once told by an investor that starting side projects while running a company was a bad thing...what I have found with side projects like layoffs at FYI is that they can often amplify or complement or lead to new insights.
---
Lee's ventures, including Comprehensive IO, reflect his commitment to this mission, demonstrating how diverse projects can align with a broader goal of financial empowerment 3.
