Manhattan Project Origins

The Manhattan Project's foundation was laid in remote New Mexico, where Oppenheimer's ranch was nearby. While Los Alamos garnered fame for its celebrity scientists, the bulk of resources and efforts were concentrated in Oak Ridge and Hanford. The challenge of separating uranium isotopes proved to be a significant hurdle, as both U-238 and U-235 behave identically chemically, complicating the process of creating the bomb's essential components.
