Great Walls of China

The Great Wall of China is not a singular structure but a series of walls built over centuries. Initially constructed from rammed earth, the wall was unified under the Qin dynasty, stretching approximately 3,000 miles. Different dynasties had varying approaches to its maintenance, and during the Mongol invasions, it lost its significance, serving merely as a military outpost. Interestingly, European visitors of the time rarely mentioned the Great Wall, highlighting its diminished role in the broader context of Chinese history.
