Napoleon's ambitious reign saw him crowned emperor in 1804, asserting control over much of Europe while facing internal and external opposition. His strategic marriages and military victories expanded his influence, yet the costly war in Spain hinted at the challenges to come. By 1810, he ruled over 40% of Europe, but the seeds of decline were already being sown.
