Decline of Angkor

Following the death of Surya, the Khmer Empire faced a decline until Jay brought order and established Angkor Thom, a significant Buddhist city. Despite its splendor, the empire struggled with invasions and religious shifts, leading to neglect and the eventual shift of power to Phnom Penh. Angkor, while never completely abandoned, became overgrown as its temples fell into disrepair, echoing the empire's fading glory.
