Maccabean Revolt

Antiochus IV's harsh policies against Judaism sparked a significant revolt led by Metathias and his sons, known as the Maccabees. This guerrilla warfare ultimately culminated in the recapture of Jerusalem and the rededication of the Temple in 164 BC. The menorah, a vital symbol of the Temple, played a crucial role in this rededication process, highlighting its importance in Jewish tradition.
