League of Nations Failures

The League of Nations, despite its ambitious goals and notable achievements in areas like disarmament and refugee assistance, ultimately faltered due to its lack of enforcement power. As fascism rose in Europe, the League's inability to act against aggression, such as Japan's invasion of Manchuria and Italy's annexation of Ethiopia, highlighted its impotence. By the outbreak of World War II, the League had become a mere shadow of its intended purpose, leading to its eventual decline.
