Plutonium Properties

Plutonium has 20 known isotopes, but only plutonium 238 and plutonium 239 are widely discussed, with the latter being fissile and used in nuclear weapons. While plutonium 239 can be utilized in reactors and bombs, plutonium 238 is highly radioactive and non-fissile. This metal is not only toxic, comparable to nerve gases, but also exhibits unique physical properties, such as poor conductivity and significant thermal expansion.
