Black Holes Unveiled

Black holes, once mere theoretical constructs, became a reality with the discovery of Cygnus X-1 in 1971. Their immense gravity creates an event horizon, trapping everything within and preventing any communication with the outside. Supermassive black holes, found at the centers of galaxies, can be billions of times more massive than the sun, often resulting from cosmic collisions and mergers.
