Origins of Basketball

The early version of basketball was chaotic, lacking rules and structure, leading to rough play that resembled a fight more than a sport. Naismith introduced 13 rules to tame the game, which initially required players to pass without moving, resembling ultimate frisbee. The name "basketball" emerged from the simple combination of a ball and a basket, setting the stage for the sport's evolution, including the creation of specialized basketballs and hoops.
