The golden age of ninjas produced legendary figures like Goemon, often dubbed the ninja Robin Hood, and Hattori, a leader shrouded in myth. However, this era ended dramatically with the unification of Japan, leading to the decline of traditional ninja roles. While ninjutsu persisted, its practitioners transitioned to roles as spies and bodyguards, with the last known authentic practitioner, Junichi, carrying on the ancient traditions.
