Quebec's Revolution Stance

The cultural divide between English-speaking colonists and French-speaking Quebecois played a pivotal role in Quebec's decision not to support the American Revolution. The Quebec Act of 1774 granted significant autonomy and addressed many grievances, leaving the French settlers with little incentive to join the American cause. Attempts by the Americans to win over Quebec were ultimately unsuccessful, as the existing rights and freedoms already provided by the British outweighed any potential benefits of rebellion.
