China's Historical Defenses

The eastern side of China has long been the focus of its defense strategy, housing 94% of the population and most agricultural activity. Historically, threats to China have primarily come from the north, where nomadic tribes from the Eurasian steppes posed significant risks. Despite geographical barriers like the Himalayas and deserts, the northern frontier remained vulnerable, prompting the construction of walls by regional warlords to deter invasions.
