Power and Betrayal

Sejanus skillfully consolidated power within the praetorian guard, becoming Tiberius's chief advisor and the de facto ruler of Rome. As tensions escalated with Drusus, the heir apparent, Sejanus resorted to seduction and treachery, ultimately leading to Drusus's suspicious death. With Tiberius retreating to Capri, Sejanus seized control, orchestrating treason trials and amassing wealth at the expense of his political rivals.
