Muslim Conquest of Spain
The term "Moors" referred to various Muslim inhabitants from North Africa, including Berbers and Arabs, who invaded the Iberian Peninsula. Their conquest, marked by generous terms for the conquered, led to nearly 800 years of Muslim presence in regions known as Al Andalus. The advance was halted at the pivotal Battle of Tours in 732, preventing further expansion into Western Europe.
