The term "podcasting" emerged in 2004, blending "iPod" and "broadcast," thanks to a journalist and later popularized by a former MTV VJ. The iPod's name was inspired by the small pods from "2001: A Space Odyssey." Additionally, RSS technology plays a crucial role in how podcasts are distributed, allowing apps to automatically update and download new episodes for listeners.
