Voyager's Ambitious Journey

The Voyager program emerged from NASA's Mariner initiative, seizing a unique opportunity in the late 1970s to explore the outer planets using gravitational assists. Unlike earlier probes, Voyager's missions aimed to not only visit the gas giants but also to escape the solar system entirely. A groundbreaking decision was made to attach a 12-inch record to each probe, containing a wealth of information about humanity, far surpassing the simple plaques of previous missions.
