The Journey of Zero

The concept of zero, as developed by Indian mathematician Brahmagupta, revolutionized mathematics by introducing it not just as a placeholder but as a full-fledged number with its own rules. Despite its origins in India, zero was slow to gain acceptance in Europe due to philosophical challenges, particularly among the ancient Greeks. It wasn't until the 11th century, through the work of Arabic and Persian scholars, that zero began to reshape European mathematics, paving the way for modern numerical systems.
