Fall of the Qing

The Qing dynasty's fall in 1912 marked the end of over 2000 years of imperial rule in China, leaving Puyi, a child emperor, unaware of his abdication. While he retained his title and lived in the Forbidden City, he was effectively imprisoned, isolated from the sweeping changes occurring outside.
