Squaring the Circle

The quest to square the circle has captivated thinkers since ancient times, beginning with Anaxagoras's intuitive attempts while imprisoned. Hippocrates made strides by squaring certain curved shapes, while Antiphon's polygon approach hinted at early integral calculus. Despite Euclid's systematic framework for geometry, the challenge remained unresolved, with later mathematicians during the Islamic golden age preserving knowledge and exploring new methods without achieving a solution.
