Origins of Korean War

The roots of the Korean War trace back to Japan's occupation of Korea in 1910 and the subsequent resistance movements. After World War II, the peninsula was divided at the 38th parallel, with the Soviets in the North and the Americans in the South, setting the stage for future conflict. Ideological clashes between the two superpowers hindered the establishment of a unified government, leading to separate elections in the South that were opposed by many Koreans.
