Suffrage Divisions

A pivotal moment in the women's suffrage movement arose when the passage of the 14th and 15th Amendments sparked a rift among advocates. While some prioritized voting rights for black men, others, like Stanton and Anthony, highlighted the ongoing gender inequality. This division ultimately led to the formation of two factions, which weakened the movement until their eventual reunification in 1890, coinciding with global advancements in women's voting rights.
