In 1711, the Massachusetts colonial Assembly reversed the convictions of 22 people involved in the Salem Witch Trials. The governor also agreed to provide compensation to the convicted and their families. However, it wasn't until 2001 that all convicted individuals were formally exonerated by name 1.

Ann Putnam Junior, one of the main accusers, made a full apology in 1706, claiming that Satan had deceived her.
