Gun-Type Design
The gun-type atomic bomb design was a straightforward yet revolutionary concept in the Manhattan Project. It involved two main components: a target and a projectile, both made of uranium 235. The projectile, propelled by conventional explosives, would collide with the target to achieve supercriticality, resulting in an atomic explosion. This design was used for the "Little Boy" bomb dropped on Hiroshima, and its simplicity meant it was never tested before being used in combat 1.

Implosion Design
The implosion-type bomb design emerged as a more complex but ultimately more efficient alternative.
