Traditional methods of controlling invasive species often involve hunting, trapping, and the use of barriers. Gary Arndt shares the story of Thomas Austin, who introduced 24 rabbits to Australia in 1859 for hunting, leading to a population explosion that devastated crops. This led to the creation of the rabbit-proof fence, one of the longest fences in the world, to control their spread 1.
