I have had issues with my legs becoming weak and my joints hurting over the last 4 or 5 years, to the point where I lost my ability to walk and had to stop working at my job as a line worker with Verizon. I have gone to about 10 different doctors, but I still don't know what the problem is. I know you from videos with Joe Rogan and Dana White. I know how you have helped so many people, so I was just wondering if you could offer any advice or guidance.
Where do I start with turning things around to lose weight and manage my health as a 58-year-old, 6-year post-menopausal, black woman diagnosed with lupus 2 years ago, who suffers from frequent panic attacks and is 70 lbs overweight? I currently work out with weights but have been unsuccessful in losing weight and keeping it off.
Let me give you a rundown of me and my situation. I (Jason) am a 35-year-old, 5'8", 270 lbs male. I come from a family that had extremely bad weight and health issues. Since I was a child, I watched my father, grandparents, aunts, and uncles who were all morbidly obese, the smallest one being my uncle at 350 lbs and my father being the biggest at 500+ lbs. As a child, I witnessed my family struggle with the most basic of tasks and a laundry list of health issues. Besides the weight being an issue, depression, heart disease, diabetes, Alzheimer's, and cancer have been a few of the many issues my family has struggled with. None of my grandparents made it out of their mid-70s before passing away. Witnessing this throughout my life, I always told myself I wasn't going to be like my parents and relatives; I was going to try my best to identify bad health habits and make better ones, especially when it came to my weight. Needless to say, it's been a lot harder than I thought. I always told myself I would never be over 300 lbs and maintain a manageable, active lifestyle as I got older. Well, as I hit my late 20s and early 30s, I started living a less active lifestyle, and at 33, I hit that 300 lbs mark I never wanted to be. I told myself it's time to get serious about my weight and health.
