The Psychology of Forgery

Many forgers, including Hebern, are driven by psychological motivations rather than financial gain. Their initial impulse often stems from a desire for revenge, which remains a private victory until they are caught. Some forgers intentionally embed clues, or "time bombs," in their works, allowing them to reveal the truth and achieve a sense of self-actualization once discovered.
