Ethical Challenges

Scott Svenson faced a significant ethical challenge early in his career when he discovered discrepancies in a colleague's employment contract. This situation escalated to a dramatic board meeting, where Scott had to confront his friend about the integrity of the documents involved. Despite the tension, Scott's adherence to his personal ethics allowed him to maintain the friendship and continue building the Seattle Coffee Company with the support of their backers 1.

I stood by my ethics when I had to call him out. And so I think he forgave me that. And we stayed friends, and we ended up building this business together.
