Caffeine is a widely used substance that can improve mental and physical performance. It reduces reaction time, enhances memory recall, and increases alertness. Caffeine also acts as a strong reinforcer, making us like foods and drinks that contain it more than those that don't. However, chronic caffeine use can increase anxiety levels and change brain connectivity. To use caffeine to our advantage, we can delay caffeine intake until a couple of hours after waking up and drink it later in learning and focus sessions to enhance plasticity.
