Bison and Brucellosis

Bison have a unique genetic lineage, free from cattle interbreeding, making them a valuable species for conservation. However, as they leave Yellowstone in search of food during harsh winters, they risk spreading brucellosis, a disease that can cause significant issues for cattle herds. Despite the potential threat, there have been no known cases of brucellosis transmission from bison to cattle.
