Can you please help me get my blood sugar below 100 and my A1C to 4 or 5? My blood glucose was 153 after waking up on 2/11/25, and I began fasting at 6am on the same day. My last blood test in 10/2024 showed my A1C was 7. My diet is low to no sugar, low carb, high protein, and high fat. As of 2/14/25, I am at 70 hours of fasting, and my blood sugar is 155.
I have been intermittent fasting for the last two years to control my A1C, which has been very hard to keep within the normal range. I wear a Freestyle Libre periodically, which helps me monitor what I eat. My problem is keeping a healthy weight while keeping my A1C low. Fasting and eating a low-carb diet cause weight loss, so am I missing key vitamins in my diet that would help my thyroid and liver function better?
I'd like to get more information on reversing type 2 diabetes for a patient with the following condition: HbA1c 10.9%, fasting glucose 5.6–5.9 mmol/L, urine glucose +++, elevated lipids, liver enzymes, and hypertension. She is currently on day 2 of a 3-day water fast (with a recommendation to break it today) and hasn’t started Metformin (prescribed 500 mg daily for week 1, then 500 mg twice daily).
