I'm considering an 800 Cal diet like David Goggins. Currently, I am at 1400 calories, but after losing my first 30lbs, I wasn't seeing any more progress, so I went down to a 1200-calorie diet and maintained it for about 6 months, doing 45 minutes of Burn Boot Camp 5 days per week. However, there was no weight loss on the scale at all—just fluctuations of ±6 lbs from day to day. I've kept the 30lbs off for a little over a year, but I'm not moving and have not been for the past 6 months. I have PCOS, or what health professionals refer to as a form of PCOS, so I have had no luck losing weight. I was hoping to find insight or recommendations to step it up.
I have a question about weight loss. I have been working out, following a diet, and tracking calories for 2 years and 3 months, but I'm still having issues losing weight. For the last 6 months, my weight has been the same even after increasing my workouts to 2 per day.
I underwent Duodenal Switch bariatric surgery in April at 356 lbs, having started at 510 lbs and reaching the surgery weight on my own. In 6 months, I've gotten down to 250 lbs. I've worked out (mainly cardio, as recommended by the bariatric clinic) 2-3 times a week for the past year. For the past 3 weeks, I've been listening to your podcast and others, and I joined Planet Fitness, attending 4-5 days a week with an emphasis on cardio and strength training in the first 2 weeks. Now I'm backing off cardio and focusing more on strength training, with 3 sessions of 20 minutes of cardio per week. I’ve been trying to get 7-8 hours of sleep, following a single-ingredient whole food diet with a protein focus of 170-185 g a day, <45-80g carbs & moderate fat, and around 1500 calories/day given I just can’t eat like I used to. I can tell I’m getting stronger and losing inches on my waist. I see changes in the mirror, but I’m kind of lost on if my calorie intake is appropriate for the bariatric procedure I had and the regimen I have in the gym and my nutrition. Do you have any suggestions to improve my approach?
