My daughter is 10 years old and experienced complete hair loss at 8 due to Alopecia Areata. I'm wondering if the genetic methylation test can help point us in the right direction to try and put the Alopecia Areata in remission and allow her hair to grow back. How would I interpret the results from the test and know how to introduce changes to our lifestyle? I have a hard time talking to our pediatric dermatologist because it's very clear they do not understand the disease and are only treating the symptom, which is the hair loss. Do you have any information or experience with treating Alopecia Areata that you can share? I'd be grateful for anything. Thank you.
Are there any podcast episodes on childhood Alopecia?
I have a question about type 1 diabetes in a child. I've listened to almost every podcast, and you often say the body doesn't make mistakes and talk about other autoimmune diseases, but I haven't heard much about type 1. I might be crazy to think it could be reversed, but I can't help but think back to my kiddo's first few years of life. He was put on PPIs and had a surgery around 9 months that involved large amounts of antibiotics. He was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes when he was 3, and he is now 6. What are your thoughts around type 1 diabetes and whether it can be reversed? Where would I start? Nothing I find on the internet gives me hope, but I believe in our bodies' ability to heal.
